Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and drive trucks to transport goods and materials to designated locations.
- Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods while maximizing efficiency.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and handling of goods.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its roadworthiness.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards while operating the truck.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that arise.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance and promptly report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain a high standard of service.
- Uphold professional conduct and represent the company in a positive manner during interactions with customers and the public.
Requirements:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with the necessary endorsements for operating trucks in Canada.
- Proven experience as a Truck Driver, preferably with long-haul or commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations.
- Knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate and maintain different types of trucks, including handling various cargo.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Physical stamina and the ability to handle heavy lifting and long hours on the road.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and electronic logging devices.
- Willingness to comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements as mandated by transportation regulations.
